I've looked and searched and wracked my brain and still haven't found what I'm looking for.

I recently downloaded an add-in for my MSS, and through RDC placed it on the desktop in WHS. But when I double click the exe to get the msi and to install it, I get and error saying that I don't have admin privileges to start the program.

I know there was a certain spot I was supposed to copy the exe into for it to work and for the life of me I can't remember.

Can anyone enlighten me?!

Do right click, properties and unblock. Then you should be able to execute to unzip it. If the addin is already an msi then move it from the desktop to the add-ins folder under the software share and install it via the console.

I have tried the unblock, but still get those errors. I'm logged in as Admin. I should be allowed to execute... shouldn't I?

I think you need to share more details of what exactly you're trying to accomplish. What software? Is it an Add-In? DId you Unblock it successfully? Have you tried copying it from the server share to the server desktop?

Have you tried our Add-Ins?

I'm very new to this, and Alex is more knowledgeable than I am. What I would do is drop the .exe in the shared software folder within your shared folders which should be on the client desktop. Then open the whs console, navigate to shared software and run the .exe.
Just something to try until you get better help.

Don't know if you're having the same issue that I was having last night with installing a third party app through RDP. But I was getting an error of "cannot access the specified file" no matter what I did.
Ended up that I had to uninstall Internet Explorer Enhanced Security.
Thread I found it on was here. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/For ... 354a5c310e
Hope it helps.
