You have to install Firefly if you do not have a MediaSmart Server.

My WHS installation of FirePlay *seems* to be working (it runs when accessed via https://dyndnsdomainname.net/FirePlay) however it never gets past the "Connecting to https://dyndnsdomainname.net:9999" and the playlist never populates.

Is there more configuration to be done? (I saw logins posted in these mssg brds but I was never prompted to login.)
Are there any other prerequisites I may have missed? (Maybe I need mt-daapd or some other software installed? I am sure Flash is working.)

Did you try/check the port was forwarded? If the port is not forwarded, OR if you have the iTunes Server diasbled on the console, you will see the player but never get connected to the library.

If you have a UPnP router it may have been done automatically, but I always like to forward ports by myself to keep track of what I have running.

This site can help, it provides directions on how to forward ports on different routers: http://portforward.com/

It's contained in the flash file, so you wont be able to, easily.

Cougar, this is great! THANK YOU!

I have a suggestion, I have a lot of WMA files on my server, and trying to play them gets a message about "Flash can only play extrnal audio in MP3 format". Is it possible to set a filter so that FilePlay only shows MP3 tracks?

Hey; thank Bo Mellberg he's the author of FirePlay. I just delivered the Add-in to make the install easier for you.

I'll pass on your comments though.

Ahh, ok. I kept seeing his name in there, but I kept reading it as he having done FireFly, which of course isn't right either. :)

n/m!

Certainly not a port issue. My comment that "the playlist never populates" seems to match your statement of "never get connected to the library". I did not think it was an iTunes issue as I tried to access from several PCs that all do have iTunes running successfully on them.

NOW... "iTunes Server" on the other hand... Hummm... Is that something other than having iTunes installed on the remote PCs?
If so this probably explains what is wrong.

Where do I get iTunes Server?

Install the Firefly server linked above if you don't have a MediaSmart Server, or make sure it is enabled if you do have an MSS.

Thanks so much for this bit of hand-holding!
I had though originally that this pkg might be required but after looking at it I then thought not as it doesn't look like it is for Windows! (I looked at it again and it still doesn't!)

So, I have this "mt-daapd-0.2.4.2" folder with what looks like no Windows files in it and I have no idea what to do!

There is a readme file that I do not understand thought it does say: "Questions? Check the forums at mt-daapd.sourceforge.net or mail rpedde@users... ". Should I now redirect my questions there or can you tell me what to do with this package?

Thanks agian,
RG

Sounds like you have the wrong install. Download and run this one on the server.
