Looks like I may had a typo with my server IP or something because it is working now. Not sure what I may have done wrong. I suppose it was working the entire time and I goofed trying to confirm that it was a successful install.

Hi all,

I am having the same problem as jason_j_a:

I can get it to work internally by using http://hpserver/FirePlay but when I use http://mydomain.homeserver.com/FirePlay it loads the page but not the library.

I've forwarded port 9999 to my WHS, but still no luck. Any hints?

I am testing it away from home and my network and the router is configured so that port 9999 is being forwarded to my home server. Any thoughts?

I would try the old uninstalling then reinstalling trick.

I had to do this myself, my first install worked great from home & the office but I didn't set up the password. After setting up a password I had the same problems with no Source shown. The second time was the charm. :D

Thanks again for the adder. :)

Did you try rebooting your router and server after forwarding the port? Sometimes this makes a diference.

I'm having a wierd problem. I installed Fireplay, and was having some issues, so I read the topics here and found that itunes needs to be enabled in MSS. I go to the console, and then to settings, and go to the "Settings for Itunes" page. I click on enable, put in a servername, but the "Apply" button remains grayed out. I hit "OK", but my changes are not saved. I reboot the MSS, and have the same problem.

Any words of wisdom?

Check firefly is running, and also the Bonjour service has started up ok.

If they look ok; try the http://HPSERVER/FirePlay and what does it do? If not, http://hpserver:9999 what does that do?

Yes, both Bonjour and Fireplay services are running.

When I enter http://server/fireplay, I see the Fireplay screen and "Connecting to HTTP://server:9999, but no music ever appears in the boxes below.

That happened to me even though the port was forwarded on my router just after setting everything up. A combination of rebooting my router and my server fixed it. You can also log in to the console and go to Settings>Remote Access and let it run through the check to make sure it is available.

I don't know how to check the port for Fireplay - how do I do that? I assumed it was 9999.

Also - should there be a "Firefly" service as well as Bonjour and Fireplay?

I've rebooted the server, but will try the router as well.

If you have a UPnP router it may have been done automatically, but I always like to forward ports by myself to keep track of what I have running.

This site can help, it provides directions on how to forward ports on different routers: http://portforward.com/

EDIT: Yes, the port should be 9999.

OK - I'm officially an idiot.

I had turned off the itunes streaming long ago, and uninstalled the Firefly media service. i just downloaded and reinstalled, and everything working well.

Thanks to all for the help.

No worries, same happened to me. I kept asking myself what was wrong and it was as simple as turning on the iTunes server. I guess my problem is that I did not link Firefly and the iTunes option together since I am still new at this.

But once that clicked together it was all good... Glad to hear it's working for you now, and thanks again to everyone that help put this together!

My WHS installation of FirePlay *seems* to be working (it runs when accessed via https://dyndnsdomainname.net/FirePlay) however it never gets past the "Connecting to https://dyndnsdomainname.net:9999" and the playlist never populates.

Is there more configuration to be done? (I saw logins posted in these mssg brds but I was never prompted to login.)
Are there any other prerequisites I may have missed? (Maybe I need mt-daapd or some other software installed? I am sure Flash is working.)
