I can get it to work internally by using http://hpserver/FirePlay but when I use http://mydomain.homeserver.com/FirePlay it loads the page but not the library.

I've forwarded port 9999 to my WHS, but still no luck. Any hints?

This most likely won't work from inside the home, are you testing from away from home? Does your router support UPnP, and can you check the router config to see if port 9999 is being forwarded to your home server?

Can you explain to me why my other domains does not work with this?

The admin firefly thing works there but playlist etc not loading...the music password does not seem to work

I'm not sure what you mean by "other" or "normal" domains, do you mean that you have your own custom domain names pointing to your WHS (like www.tass_bur.com)? If so, then most likely IIS is not configured to work with those domains. Are you able to successfully access those domains from the web? How about the /Remote url over https (https://www.tass_burr.com/Remote), does that work?

yes thats excatly what i mean :) I am sorry im not good at explaining it.

I have 2 domains xxxx.com applied to my IP at home (the one where my server is connected to) it all works fine via that IP except the fireplay thing. (I DO get a certificate warning but i just click continue or something like that and it all works) but when i try and connect to fireplay it DOES find it but it asks for password and login. I found out its the admin/firefly password but it still does not let me stream my music that way. it keeps saying connecting to http://(myhpdomain).homeserver.com

and nothing happens .....but as soon as i go in DIRECTLY to mydomain.homeserver.com it works fine.

Im sorry if this does not explain it correctly. Not all that easy always translating technical stuff in your head into another language :P

I though it might be a router thing but i forwarded 9999 to my server and that did not work.

The Only difference i have found so far of how my 2 "normal" domains works compared to mydomain.homeserver.com works is i dont get an certificate error on homeserver...oh and of course the fireplay thing :P

any ideas?

Does the Fireplay GUI display, but the library never loads? If so, what URL is it showing, or can you share a screenshot?

For example, if you're coming in to www.tass_burr.com/Fireplay, does the GUI show "Connecting to www.tass_burr.com:9999" or something else? My only thought is that perhaps it doesn't like cross-domain connections.

Regardless, it sounds like you have a pretty good workaround of just going to tassburr.homeserver.com/Fireplay, right? Or is there a need to have it working for the other domains?

It's possibly a crossdomain issue and flash has some security built in to stop scripts running across domains. You really need to go to yesterdays 0.90.05 update, which might resolve the issue. If that doesnt work; try what i've suggested in the PM.

I would like to thank you both for your help :)

But Cougar help worked :D updating fireplay was all that was needed :D brilliant

And to answer yakuza,

yeah...there was a workaround ....but if i can avoid it I love solving the problem i have instead of living with it :P

Also my fiancee has learned to use our domains, she has a very bad memmory when it comes to technology and teaching her the homeserver domain too would give me....challenges :P of course she COULD use favorits...again with the workarounds :P

anyway thank you both for your great help ....again :D

Hello,

Thank you for developing this add-in. I just installed it on my EX470 and the installation went with no issues.

I do have some issues making it work, as well with my domain not working any longer.

When I go to http://my.hpserver.com I get a HTTP 500 Internal Server Error. The repair option from the console, under Settings>Remote Access does not fix it, and tells me it could be my ISP not allowing access to those ports or the router. However, this worked fine until I installed the add-in.

Also, going to http://my.hpserver.com/fireplay or //HPSERVER/fireplay, brings up the player, but never connects to port 9999 or the music. I did forward port 9999 to my server's internal IP.

EDIT: Rebooting the server has restored access to http://my.hpserver.com (I got worried for a minute there, whew...)

However, I still get stuck waiting for the FirePlay plugin to connect to http://my.hpserver.com:9999. Also, trying to access http://my.hpserver.com:9999/config.html or //HPSERVER:9999/config.html just times out with an "IE cannot display the webpage error".

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks for the effort developing this and any possible assistance!

EDIT # 2 & SOLUTION: Color me stupid... Because I do not use iTunes at home I had disabled the iTunes Server on the console. Enabling it fixed this right away! Now it works flawlessly!!!! Once again, thank you for developing this!!!

One last question, I was able to password protect my music by adding a password under Settings>Settings for iTunes on the console... however, when going to http://my.hpserver.com:9999/config.html I am asked for a username and password. I tried no username with my admin password, my share username and password, username Admin (and Administrator) and my admin password, etc. But none of these worked...

Any ideas?

Glad you got it all working! Nigel and I have a new version in development that does some more checks and provides feedback via health notifications. I had a check to make sure Firefly is installed, but you brought up a great point that I should also check to see if the Firefly service is enabled and running.

The default admin login is:
user: Admin
password: firefly

Let us know if that gets you working!

I had the 500 error too, I just waited to the next day and it worked again (I was at my inlaws at the time so did not have physical access to the server)

Any idea what was wrong?

I could get access to fireplay but the rest of the server I was not able to get access to?

I just installed the add-on for my HP mediasmart ex485 WHS. However, I can't verify that this is working at all as it does not show up in the Console's settings like I've seen in screenshots and I'm unable to get anything to show up on web url using port 9999. Are there additional instructions that I need to follow? Do I need to install the FirePlay client on the WHS? Anything else?

Have you tried accessing the URL listed in the readme? http://hpserver/FirePlay where hpserver is the name of your server. Is the iTunes server enabled in your server console?

Yes, I tried that immediately after I installed the add-on. And iTunes is enabled and working fine (shows up in iTunes client on deskop).

It's probably worth RDP'ing onto the server and checking out what firefly is doing. If 9999 doesnt work; it sounds like the service is stopped.

Thank you for the reply. I was able to log in to the FireFly server configuration with that default login and password and I have changed the password for added security. It worked like a charm :D

I'm sure it was only a hiccup that probably occured during the UPnP configuration of the router with the new ports being forwarded. At least that's my guess based on my limited experience and knowledge.

Have you tried going into your router's configuration and forwarding port 9999 to your EX485's IP?
