I just installed remote alert and I have some questions about how it is suppose to work...

Just what should one see on the Activity tab? As far as connection on the local LAN?

Thanks

Second time today,

How do I say this nicely, I can google too...

I really was looking for user feedback. In my use of this product it seems to create a false sense of security, just wonder if anyone else has noticing this too.

But thanks for your effort & time.

I'm not sure I understand your point here, can you elaborate?

My understanding is that you'll get notified when someone logs in on the /Remote website, and I believe the Activity tab is for network activity, so if you have file copies or backups going on you should see activity shown in the graph.

That was kind of my understanding as well. I believe this was written for any WHS rather than just for the MediaSmart Server? So it should respond to all network activity, and not activity on just certain network adapters correct?

When I open WHS Console on my Notebook it shows I have a RDC to the server on the local network, as I would expect. But if I connect by another computer on the local LAN, it fails to show the RDC, nor does it show any network activity at all. :(

Part of the answer here is Remote Alert will only monitor one NIC and it expects that NIC to be named Local Area Connection so if you want to monitor a different NIC it must be renamed.

It appears that Remote Alert is designed to only monitor share activity, not a RDC but an iPad with FileBrowser can access shares and browse them without detection.
