haha its ok.

As both solutions are paid solutions which one is more worth the money. I like the concept of stablebit but Im also nervous that it could damage my data.

hdsentinel is the only program I could get to recognize all the drives in my WHS, so I don't really have any other options.

Does anyone know if Stablebit Scanner's scanning is as good as or similar to Checkdisk? I started having random hangs on my EX495 and am trying to rule out/in a bad hard drive. I'd rather not have to take the OS hard drive out to run check disk on it.

I'd first try the Home Server SMART Add-In to see if your drive is reporting any SMART issues.

Thanks, I have had the SMART add in for some time. It has always shown that 3 of my drives have a few bad sectors and reallocation events, but I do not think these have increased on any of the drives. There are no other errors showing up. But the other day, I thought I heard one of the hard drives making a "clicking" sound, which usually means it is soon to die. However, I am having trouble tracking down which disk this is. I suspect it is the OS disk because of hanging (requiring a reboot) and no obvious error messages in the event viewer.
