I just went and picked up Norton Internet Security 2010 for my PCs. I don't typicaly leave any computer on all the time except the MSS. Can I install NIS on the MSS or just scan it for viruses when I turn a PC on?

Not sure about Norton 2010 with WHS. You'll need to look to see if it specifically says it's designed to run on a WHS system. You should only run an anti-virus program on WHS that is specifically designed for use on WHS. Otherwise, there is a risk of creating problems with your MSS, such as the firewall locking you out and then having to do a server recovery to get back in again. A lot of folks, including myself, migrate toward Avast for WHS. There are other good WHS-centric choices available.

There are some users who do not use an AV program on their WHS. IMO, that's a mistake these days and a huge hole in security for one's network. Given users are likely storing important data on their MSS, it would seem imprudent to leave that data vulnerable to a data destroying virus or a virus that gives some criminal or rouge State access to your data and your system (to use as part of a botnet).
