I'm in a work study program to get my windows specialist certification. Part of the program is to make a project related to the field you want to go into. I want to control ir devices remotely by computer. pick up an ex475 for $30 with no hard drives. I have tested it via my own hard drive with lynux mint and I've confermed it works. I know I can wire in a vga, but is it possible to wire in an ir led through the front connection where the led indicator light are and write the code for it. Being my father's son I love to make due with what I got. Any advice would be a help......bill

My 2 cents says these headless servers are like a ras pi as they are smaller then normal. Don't they have usb IR you could plug in any of the usb ports front or rear and us?
Goodluck and enjoy.

A USB IR receiver like used for media center remotes should do what you want.

thanks guys. I know I'm kinda reinventing the wheel a bit, but I don't want to give up on this idea. anyone have the pin out on the plug that connects the usb board that has the led indicator lights on it. I'm really leaning on taking on the project
