My work actually involves large SANs and disaster recovery solutions for what are usually large companies. Perhaps rack mounting an EX490 might be a bit much? :-k

Actually, the MSS was designed so it would fit on a rack, up to 3 wide. :sanjuan: Welcome to the forums!

I found the site through a google search when looking for help doing a server backup.

Now that I've frequented the board several times, I'm wanting to be able to stream media from my MSS to my TV, and have found loads of info on my options for this.

Originally purchased the MSS as a one stop backup solution for multiple PC's, but now I"d like to expand out a little more on it's capabilities and this forum is a great place for that it seems.

I found this site through Google searches while searching on WHS, MSS and for add-ins in general. In many of my searches this site popped to the top of the search results. After visiting and finding lots of goodies...knowledgeable people, awesome forums, excellent add-ins, I decided that this site was a keeper.

Thank you for taking the time to maintain this site Alex and Co. You've done a great job!

Danke,
Matt

I'm a network tech by trade... ran into my 485 in a best buy for $400 figured it would be a fun toy to play with. Mainly I think I tried something others haven't yet and I want to share.

Hi! Found the site like most folks, searching for specific information on the HP MediaSmart via Google.

I had no plans to even purchase the server until I saw refurbished units on NewEgg the other day for $289.99! Now I have 2 HP MV NAS devices and my EX485.

Happy to see this site is so active and everyone seems so friendly! First thread I looked at was the "Show off your MediaSmart Server" thread. Love it. Wow! I thought I was a geek.

Hi,

I am an MS-MVP for Media Center and I'm looking into putting in a Home Server both for centralization, convenience, and just general tinkering around.

I found the site searching for some general info on HP MediaSmart servers while I decide on buying a prebuilt or build one.

James

Hi James,

Welcome aboard. I hope you take the opportunity to share any experiences or insight you have with Media Center. Definitely check out the DIY section of the forum to see what some members are building, as well as the Media Streaming section. :mss:

Welcome, James, nice to have other MVP's visiting! Perhaps we'll run into each other at the Summit next week if you're attending. :)

Hi Guys,

I found the forum by googling 'ex 490 recovery' Which led me here: http://www.mediasmartserver.net/wiki/in ... _and_EX495

Found the forum most helpful thus far and contributing where I can.
