Hi Guys

I've found posts and web content saying that I should be able to stream using my media music and video over the web (outside my home network) to a remote laptop, but I'm struggling to find an idiots guide or just a simple step by step.

Unfortunately I work away from home a lot and my 'DREAM' was to have my music and video on the MSS and then access the content from remote locations. I didn’t want to download but just stream and enjoy.

I've followed the installation guide:

1. I’ve ran through the installation guide
2. Installed PVConnect
3. Confirmed that I can see my content and stream from my PS3

I’m wondering if you could add the next few steps to allow me to stream from outside my own network.

Lots of stuff on the net about WMP, ORB, Twonky etc etc…I’m just looking a definitive ‘normal’ ‘adequate’ solution that a Newbie could follow…

If you can help could you make tyour explantion as simple as poss for me to follow

Orb works great for outside your LAN use. But I have found the MSS PVConnect works better on your LAN.

Just download Orb and mess around with it, It's free ya know

Could you give an appropriate link for the item and pehaps some instructions.

Should I uninstall PVCONNECT? Or leave it installed?

I read on one of the posts about a prodyct called firefly. Would this be a useful alternative?

Can I not use PVCONNECT to stream outside my home network?

can I not use the add-ins provided by HP to stream music outside my home network? Or do I require 3rd party software??

You will need external software to stream outside of your home. I believe this piece of software does what you are looking for and comes in an add-in specifically for WHS:

Would a Newbie (less than 10days) be able to insyall it and get it up and running.

Would you have any experience of using it or installing/accessing MSS with this software.

Have not tried it myself as I only stream within my house using PVConnect. But would suggest you do a search for webguide on this forum and you will get several threads discussing the addin, its performance and ease of use.
