Damn Best Buy and their sales :)

I like the WD Books because I can take them apart already, plus they have been pretty good to me. I am getting another enclosure from CFI again soon, this time a SATA case. When I get it I am dismantling the 4 My Books you see and adding them to the new case. Hopefully will save some electricity :) :)

For those who haven't seen them, the thing below the monitor is a clock (the picture was taken at 9:27).

Picture of mine is below.. sitting next to my CFI room heater. Stack of WD disks ready to go in one day - if I can ever get it working. The two WD "My Books" hook up to my main PC not the MSS.

Under "reconstruction" - memory and processor all at once.

I have that same case. I have one of those Sonata I, and the newer one (without the silver flip hiding the ports), the Sonata II

Jeff: Since you have that MSS apart is there any way you could shoot a picture of the Power Supply fan and post it for all to see?

Too late - it's all back together now.
I should have thought of that, but hadn't been following the fan thread until today. I want to know about that too... instrumented temps seem ok, but it "seems" a bit hot sometimes... or else you guys got me worried...

"Hot" would probably be over 60++C. Lower than that it is simply paranoia and a desire to maximize part life. And we are probably sacrificing the fans for the CPUs!

(I am paranoid & proud! And being a bit older, I like "cool" things!!!)

John, have a look at this thread over at wegotserved, there are three great clear pictures of the PSU fan.

This is embarrassing -- I even contributed to that thread!

Thanks for the pointer!

Here is mine, sitting next to my scanner and printer in my home office. And some shots during the RAM upgrade.

That's some high density hardware, must be about $5K or more worth of gear right there. BTW - I had that exact same component rack, except in the cherry color. I really like it because of the great ventilation and the cable mangement in the back, but I end up selling mine because I couldn't keep my 3-year old son from wanting to climb it :)

Here is what I have set up thus far. In march the hard drive went bad in the computer, and because of my backup strategy (None) we lost everything. My wife cried for 3 days about losing all of the childrens pictures and our financial records. My first attemt for a backup plan was the Belkin wireles USB port with an attached exernal HD. It worked ok but it was not automatic. I read about the HP Mediasmart server and bought it solely for backup purposes. I just now started trying to see what else it is capable of doing.

I have three computer rooms in my home. My wife hates it but I am a geek. Here are two computers in one room . The first is my Quad core with server. The server is 8.5 TB and the quad core is 5 TB with all the drives in. The second computer is tied to a video security system recording to hard drives. My network is 1000T backbone to 5 computers 3 laser printers and one inkjet.
