Post subject:  Location of Duplicated Share Folders

I was moving a large amount of non critical files from an old external drive I'm getting ready to sell. The target on my WHSv1 was the shared public folder (I generally don't use the shared public folder for much so there was nothing else on it). Eventually I was planning to move these files to a large external backup drive.

Problem is I accidentally had folder duplication enabled and now they have sucked up double the space on my server.. I've since turned off folder duplication for the Public folder share. But since I really don't need to take up the extra drive space with these non critical files/folders, can anyone tell me where I should look on the server using RDP so I can find and delete the duplicates and get my file space back?

It is almost impossible to find them.
It picks the location of the duplicate at random trying to balance the storage on all drives.
If you turned off duplication then they should self delete over time.
when I migrated my media to a nas I turned off duplication.
I had around 9 tb it took about a week to clean out on its own.

Thanks Ruben,

Turning duplication off for that specific share did the trick. There was only about 500gb worth of data.

I appreciate that your still active on MSS.net!

I guess we all need to remember that it is a server not a desktop.
And some items happen on it's own time table.
That de migrator does not display any status so you never know if something is pending ,running or completed.
Maybe if you rdp to the server and check task manager you can see if it is running.
