Hi,

I recently bought a used LX197 (couldn't find an EX495 for sale in my country), but this question should be applicable to every model.
I've read online that you could add additional external drives (up to 2TB each) via the USB ports. I have four USB ports on my MSS, it is possible to add more than four external drives? Through a USB splitter or an enclosure with multiple drives? Has anyone tried this?

Another question I've been wondering is that if it was possible to add drives higher than 2TB in capacity? Is it impossible due to WHSv1 using the MBR partition table?

Thanks in advance.
Aloau

I have never used a lx197. But on a ex490 with whs1.
Yes the limit is 2 tb drives for a pool drive with whs 1,
Mine has a esata port and I have used a 5 bay towerraid port multiplier.
They do have usb models but the problem comes with it may be slow due to they are designed for usb3 and I am sure your model is usb1 or 2.
there is a thread here somewhere where someone added 32 drives but I can't find it now.
