I remember reading here that the minimum drive size for v1 was 160gb. Does anyone know where that reference's original source document could be found or what the reason is for that minimum?

I'm asking as I've been doing some work on capturing OS updates for off line storage using an 80gb drive and there doesn't seem to be any problem with the OS loading on.

Well for whsv1.
When installed creates a 20 gb c: \OS or system
Wha ever space is left on the bottom bay is partitioned as d:\data and becomes part of the pool drive.
All of the temp folders reside in the c: drive so I assume all updates are in the c: drive

But I have never yanked a system drive out and checked for hidden partitions.
So there could be say a swap drive involved.

Most references refer to Microsoft and those links are gone.
I did find a wiki :
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Home_Server

States that 80 is the minimum.

Thanks for the link Ruben,

I followed it to the WHS11 wiki where it states Vail is the OS with the 160gb minimum primary drive size.

BTW I've got a trouble free off-line capture / reinstall process for the v1 updates working at about 90% now. Still working out getting about a dozen of the updates to be automated. But the rest (about 150-200), are loading in off-line with a bare metal install with no problem.

Once done, I'll post the capture & reinstall process that's working for me for those left using WHS. I think there are still a fair amount of folks still using the MSS considering there still about 50-100 folks always showing logged in to this forum.
