I reset a spare X-510 a couple of weekends ago just to :
1) Hopefully get it loaded before the patches stopped.
2) See if hp and Microsoft were still pushing updates.

I was pleased to see that HP is still pushing the updates but Microsoft is not pushing as many as a couple months ago. Then they had about 200 +/- and this last time I reloaded they only had about 20-25 +/-. Which I really didn't care about.
Microsoft can go hang as far as I'm concerned, but it was nice to see HP still working.

Good Luck all.

Remember while your system is still running you might want to go to this folder and save a copy of all three patches:
C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HP MediaSmart Server\data\.updates

That is the hell with microsoft.
I have a copy of office 2000.
When I upgraded from xp to win7.
No updates for office via the update tool.
However they were still available by manually downloading them.
If you know which ones they are.

Gardian, I read your recommendation regarding saving the updates. Could you please advise where you keep the copy?

On the server or in the shares or on a client?

As usual thanks in advance

I have a Folder on the Server called Applications where I keep all my Apps/Iso/Programs and in that folder I have another folder called MediaSmart where I keep all the drivers/updates/iso of the disks/addins/etc.
That is where I keep mine, that folder has duplication turned on.
I also Have a couple of 2tb Non-pooled backup drives and a second server on the network that i use sync-toy to keep another backup.

So basically I have 4 copies of everything I care about. Over kill I know. But I have been collecting/creating data for 30 years.

Hope this helps.
Good Luck and enjoy!!

I am suffering / struggling through my 2nd server crash and can confirm that as of 5/15/2018, I was able to pull all HP updates for MediaSmart server EX495 all the way up to version 3.3.1.35433 - 2/3/2010
