Not sure where this topic belongs.

Is it possible to backup a HP MediaSmart to a Seagate BlackArmor 220 NAS, perhaps by using Veenam or other backup software. I cannot get the Seagate configured.

Thanks

JB

I backup the shares of my main server WHS v1 to another server WHS v1 #2 on the same network with windows (Synctoy).
It's free and pretty quick after you run it the first time.
You will just need to create matching folders on the nas to sync to.

There are other programs that do the same thing (Robocopy) comes to mind, but I haven't used it.

The programs run on the desktop of the server so you would need to create a remote desktop connection, I don't know of anything that works with the console like a add-in.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck

something I use is EasUS backup.
http://www.todo-backup.com/
They have a freebie as well as paid upgrades.
still will need a remote desktop connection to install it on the server as well as a manual run.
But you can schedule it to run by itself with a paid version.

Not really sure what you mean by:
I cannot get the Seagate configured.

I assumed you wanted to backup your "data/shares" on the server and not the OS.
I don't believe that is possible with WHS v1.
Whs 2011 I'm not sure but it's OS might be able to be backed up but one would need the vga adapter to see the desktop for that OS anyway.

Good Luck and let us know how you went, might help others.
