My 495 has all kinds of adware crap on it. Can't find a package to remove it. Everything says it's not compatible. Plus the backups have stopped working. Some kind of Windows error on the server.

I decided to just to a fresh install, but my pc can't find the server after going into recovery mode. I'm using a direct cable and Windows 7 on the pc. Tried two different pc's. Not sure what to do.

Years ago I replaced a failed system drive and did the c drive expansion to 80g. Forgot how I did that. Would be nice to keep it.

Running whs1. Not doing any pool. Just have drives set up individually. Should I consider whs 2011?

Any help is appreciated.

Tim

What you will gain if you go to whs 2011:
1) you can use larger drive size.
2) you will get a 64 bit OS.

What you lose with whs 2011:
1) lights will not work as they did.
2) you would be better served if you purchased the vga adapter so you can see.
3) you would lose the "pool" and you would need to manage your drives, but that is what your doing now anyway.

Whs 2011 is different, It does backup the clients, but the little green Icon turns into a big green login box.
I tried 2011 and didn't like the feel, but down the road I may have to learn to like it....

As far as problems with Whs V1 recovery, it can be fussy. Try booting your win7 pc into safe mode with networking and disable the wifi adapter (if it's a laptop), it may help to find/see the server for a recovery.
Also, copying the contents of the recovery disc to your desktop and running it NOT from the cd can help.

Good luck
