So, I have been thinking I need to do a little more to protect my investment in my Audo/Video Equiptment. I was looking around work and found a few old APC1500's Laying around then I came across the J35B on APC site. Which would fit my frontroom a little more then more computer equiptment. I liked the Idea that it had switchable outlets also I can control with the MSS. Being when the MSS is off it would turn other things off due to less draw from master outlet. I was wondering if the J35B worked with GridJunction, and if the green outlet work like i think they do an if anyone has tried somehting like this. Basically I would like to either power down my MSS or put it to Sleep (ex495) and have it turn off my sans digital Esata 5 bay enclosure. The fan is pretty loud for the unit when it standby for me. I like the amount of air it sounds like its moving but noise is noise. any help figuring these out would be great

Did you manage to get any further with this? I have an external drive enclosure that I would like to shut down when the server shuts down.

No not yet I posted to grid junction forum (homeserverland formu??) as I wanted to know if it worked with MSS. I have yet to get reply, which is weird because it was their actual site that told me to post on that forum.

I have successfully used Grid Junction with an APC UPS. My preference is to use Windows' hibernate feature instead. Grid Junction performs an actual shutdown of Windows, while hibernate flushes memory to disk and suspends the OS. Hibernate is nearly instantaneous while a shutdown can take some time. Resumption from hibernate is close to instant. Unfortunately MSS/WHS will not resume automatically from a hibernation state when power is restored and must be manually turned on. I asked on this site if there was a firmware setting for power on restore but no one responded to my question. In contrast my Windows SBS 2008 server goes into a hibernation state and resumes automatically when the power is subsequently restored.
