Hi guys,

I'm still quite happy with WHS v1 but I'm having trouble finding suitable drives to expand my storage. I currently have 16 Seagate/WD 2 TB drives all of which are not advance format drives. As well, I recently added a 2 TB Seagate ST2000DL003 with smartalign but my write speeds using it are half what they are with the rest of my drives. I'm also testing out a Seagate ST2000DM001 that seems better but still nowhere near the speed of my non advanced format drives.

What's the best drives for WHS v1 currently out there?

How are the WD EARX drives? I see the option to jumper pins 7 & 8 looks to be removed - can you still use these drives in WHS v1?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

You can use WD EARX drives in WHSv1, you just need to align them (or if cloning a drive, clone it using AF aware software). Here's a great step by step procedure posted by "msawyer91": viewtopic.php?f=3&t=10097&p=79525#p79525

I have a 2TB WD EARX system drive in my HP MSS EX485, I cloned the original system drive using the WD acronis software that is free to use with WD disks. I haven't had any issues with the new drive in my system.

Thanks, I'll keep those open as an option then.
