SlingPlayer for Boxee Box Released

If you happen to be both a Boxee Box and SlingBox owner there is some good news. Slingbox has just released the SlingPlayer App for the Boxee Box. This will allow you to extend your SlingBox’s LiveTV feed directly to your Boxee Box for viewing. The only real advantage for this would be if you have your Boxee Box set up in a room in your house where you don’t have a cable connection (or possibly limited cable access), if you happen to travel with your Boxee Box, or if you want to give someone not in your household access to your Live TV feed. Of course the main limitation is viewing on the SlingPlayer is limited to the Live TV feed coming from the SlingBox (i.e. so via the SlingPlayer you can only watch what is currently being broadcast from the SlingBox, you cannot have multiple TV feeds). It definitely makes for an interesting combination.

You can read the full details at SlingBox or D-Link.

I am guessing this won’t work with the old Slingbox Tuner?

On SlingBox’s site it only lists Slingbox SOLO or Slingbox PRO-HD with the latest firmware, so I am assuming a no go with the old Slingbox
