A few months ago Remote Potato, a software that interacts with Windows Media Center to allow the user to remotely control Windows Media Center Recordings, stream archived content remote, as well as many other features, released a major update. I was just about to post a review of Remote Potato, but with the update I had to scrap those plans. I was hoping to have a review of the newly updated Remote Potato but a few things have gotten in the way to slow me down (including building a new PC). With the PC build now out of the way (and of course be on the lookout for that writeup as well) I hope to revisit Remote Potato.
For the time being, Remote Potato has just announced the release of Remote Potato HD for the iPad. You can get full details here, but here are some of the highlights:
- Watch videos, movies or recorded TV shows streamed from your home PC over 3G or WiFi!
- Stream songs from your home music library – anywhere in the world.
- Remotely view your photos in crystal clear detail; download/email them to friends.
- AirPlay support: send movies and videos to your television via an AppleTV.
- Sync up albums and songs for offline access.
- Listen to music in the background while using other apps.
- Control music playback from Bluetooth or Apple™ remote headphones.

Hey thanks for the coverage, Damian – look forwarding to hearing your thoughts on the app!

Hey Carlos,
I am telling you, the gods don’t want me to post a writeup on Remote Potato!! I had to build a new PC so I scrapped my writeup until the build was done. Got the new PC up and running last weekend, set up Remote Potato, did all my screenshots and started testing, and then my WHS where all my media is stored died! Ordered a part which just arrived, so hopefully that will get me back up and running so I can finish testing and get my writeup posted.
While I do not have an iPAD I can only imagine just how much nicer it is compared to the App for the Android which I have been enjoying very much. I just use my app for Movies, Music and Pics. I think the iPad is a fantastic device and using it with Remote Potato just makes it even more interesting.
