Microsoft has announced the beta release of a new troubleshooting tool that is designed to aid Microsoft in the debug of any issues encountered in Windows Home Server 2011, Small Business Server 2011 Essentials, and Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials.

The Windows Home and Small Business Server Team is happy to announce the Windows Server Solutions Log Collector Tool for Beta testing. The Windows Server Solutions Log Collector tool captures the context of the Server of Windows Server Solutions family or computers attached to it, at close to the time when the user experiences a problem.

The Privacy Statement is heavily emphasized in the release announcements, leading one to wonder what exactly is gathered by the Log Collector tool. Microsoft has also only announced this on their forums, which would indicate they only want the skilled user and hard-core enthusiast using the tool.
