Each year Engadget runs an awards event where they ask readers to vote on the best technology products from the previous year. This year the HP MediaSmart Server has been nominated in the “Home Entertainment Device of the Year” category in the 2009 Engadget Awards, and is currently running in a distant but solid 2nd place behind the Playstation 3.
What do you think, did the PS3 really do more for your home entertainment experience this year than your Home Server? Be sure to swing by Engadget and get your vote in before February 20th at 11:59PM EST.

If my MediaSmart Server and PS3 could share all video and music files easily I’d give them both a big kiss!
HP Media Smart Server has big issues with media collector (pending files, multiple copies, etc) for which HP has not offered any real solution. HP answer to the issue was to disable media collector and manually copy fies until they provide patch. This product has been on market for a long time and not providing a quick fix is pathetic. It does not deserve the vote until the problem is fixed.
SMMS
