If you’re a Mac owner and have been encountering the infamous “MAC Address” failure while trying to get your Mac set up with your MediaSmart Server, it looks like HP has a fix available that should resolve this issue. A forum member over at MediaSmartHome.com is reporting that HP Support gave him a new version of the Mac client software. The new version is 2.5.1b51 and has resolved the issue for that user. So far the update does not appear to be publicly available, so if you’re seeing the issue you’ll likely want to contact HP support.
The specific failure appeared in the OS X System logs and looks like this:
5/12/09 12:09:04 PM HP MediaSmart Server Control Center[2633] *** -[NSCFDictionary setObject:forKey:]: attempt to insert nil value (key: Server MAC)
Thanks to forum member “bruder” for the tip!
