I’m happy to announce the release of a new version of MSS Fan Control, the Windows Home Server Add-In that allows you to modify the behavior of the exhaust fans in the HP MediaSmart Server EX470 and EX475. Note that this Add-In only works with the EX470 and EX475, I’d love to support the newer series of MediaSmart Server but HP moved the fan control policy into the BIOS where it’s much more difficult to modify.
Version 1.0.0.8 is only a maintenance update and doesn’t provide any new features. The release includes a fix for an issue uncovered by forum member “cavediver” where the Advanced Controls would be modified after rebooting the server or restarting the Server Console. If you’ve had problems with MSS Fan Control correctly remembering your Advanced Settings, then you’ll want to upgrade to the new version.
