Forum member “ern” has let us know that the recently announced iStream iPhone application is now available for download from iTunes. This feature allows you to stream to your iPhone content that is stored on your HP MediaSmart Server EX485 and EX487. Ern does lament that HP has released the application to the UK iTunes store even though the EX485 and EX487 is not available in the UK at this time.
I have to imagine that the 2.5 Software Update cannot be far behind this, but so far now official release date has been announced from HP.
Have you downloaded the application yet? Be sure to let us know in this forum thread when you’ve got it installed.

Hopefully HP follows this up with Blackberry, Android, and WebOS apps.
I originally downloaded this app and it sync’d great just as promised. Then through much disappointment now when i attempt to connect I get an error that reads “The server 75.23.XXX.XXX is not available now. would you like to continue anyway?”
Any advice?
thanks!
Brian
Brian, have you tried to continue? what’s happened then? If the app says that it cannot connect to the server, it might be the IP address is incorrect (possible due to dynamic nature). You also could try to use server’s domain name instead of IP address.
Thanks for the response!!
I tried this with the domain name and got an error that says “The operation could not be completed because the server provided invalid data”.
when using the IP — i still get the above error — when i click continue i get an error that says “The operation could not be completed because the server stopped responding.”
The most frustrating part of this is that it worked when i first set it up so i know how “cool” this app is!!
Thanks for any help you can offer!!
Well, Brian, what about “old-good” complete reinstall or at least to recall what was changed since that “first set up” and revert it back?
Here is might be one more idea: try to clean history and use your domain name with explicit “www.” prefix.
Otherwise it might be other kind problem: server side, or network configuration, etc.
In the tail end of the project of setting up a new Server and all that goes with it, I got the same error – “the operation could not be completed because the server provided invalid data” from the Iphone applacation. My HP software version was 2.1.7.24261. Support for iTunes was not added until version 2.5. You need to update the server software, then (re)install the clients on each PC.
I downloaded the app to my iPhone, input the server’s domain, and am receiving “The operation could not be completed because the server provided invalid data” error.
Make sure you have Remote Access enabled, and Twonky enabled for streaming. Does the Remote Web Media Streaming feature work?
This app does not seem to work for HP EX475. Bummer.
- unless anyone else has figured it out.
It requires the 2.5 update to work. Here’s how to get that running on an EX47x server if you’ve not yet seen the article.

Doesn’t work from iPhone for me on HP MediaSmart Server EX495.
That’s a pretty vague statement, if you’d like help troubleshooting why this doesn’t work for you I’d recommend you post in the forums.
