Pre-orders opened up today for the new MediaSmart Server. From the HP Press Release we saw a few days ago:

The HP MediaSmart Server can be pre-ordered beginning on Jan. 5, 2009, from Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, Buy.com, Frys.com and NewEgg.com; it is expected to ship in February.

The first 200 consumers who visit HP Home & Home Office (www.hpshopping.com) or call +1 888 271 2982 between Jan. 5 – 11, 2009, to reserve a MediaSmart Server and use coupon code “AC5674” will receive a $50 savings off their purchase.(5)

More information is available at www.hp.com/go/mediasmartserver.

Here’s links to the products.

If you do pre-order one, let us know where you got it from and what convinced you buy it!

I have heard back from HP, they are aware of the issue and expect to have the servers available on HPShopping.com by 1/7.

UPDATE 1/6/2009 9:26AM MST
Blog reader Pez reports:

They are up on HPShopping now, but you have to call to pre-order. It is listed at $599 for the ex485, so $549 with the $50 discount code. I called and gave them my name, and apparently they will call back when they are in inventory and ready to ship. The rep I talked to said he got 7 or 8 calls pre-ordering yesterday, and about the same amount today.

Thanks Pez!

I am planning to pre-order one. It looks like Amazon has the best price so far, but I am curious what HP will offer it for since they are offering a $50 discount. Any idea when it will be available from HP?

I’ve got a question into HP on this and will update the blog post as soon as I hear.

I just called and pre-ordered. Guaranteed to get the $50 discount, but didn’t have to give a code.

Thanks Alex!

Thanks Alex for all the useful info on your site.

I have waited for many months to order this encore. Can someone please help me find out how I can pre-order from HP ? A little complicated, ‘cos I am located in Singapore. I just need to book the set first, then get it shipped to a local address, before international shipping.

Thanks in advance!

opps… left this out… is there an online address for HP pre-order?

Alex Kuretz January 7, 2009 at 10:30 am

Hi Roy, I don’t have any further info than what has already been shared in this blog post and the comments. Currently the server only shows as available from HPShopping.com by calling and placing your order.
